TASI Group buys Sciemetric

Auto sales finally got back above pre-recession levels in 2014 with August sales reaching a seven-year high. After six long years, sales levels have matched 2007’s pace. More importantly, several research groups expect 2015 continue to grow. Today’s Motor Vehicles allows marketers direct access to this healthy industry with continued growth.

Harrison, Ohio – The Harrison, Ohio-based TASI Group, a family of 12 companies focused on test, inspection, and measurement for manufacturing, has acquired Ottawa, Canada’s Sciemetric Instruments Inc., an Industry 4.0 software and processes company.

Terms of the deal between the two privately owned companies were not disclosed. Sciemetric will continue to operate as an independent Canadian corporation.

TASI CEO John McKenna says the companies have complementary offerings, and, “Pairing Sciemetric with TASI company Cincinnati Test Systems (CTS) is an ideal partnership that amplifies each other’s strengths to create a dominant competitive advantage and a strong barrier to entry to other players.”

Sciemetric CEO Nathan Sheaff will remain as Sciemetric’s president and general manager. He said the acquisition gives his company access to new markets and customers, and creates an opportunity to sell its analytics software into a large, global installed base of test systems.
