Honda begins HR-V production in Mexico

Auto sales finally got back above pre-recession levels in 2014 with August sales reaching a seven-year high. After six long years, sales levels have matched 2007’s pace. More importantly, several research groups expect 2015 continue to grow. Today’s Motor Vehicles allows marketers direct access to this healthy industry with continued growth.

Mexico City, Mexico – Honda of Mexico has begun production of the HR-V compact crossover at its Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, plant.

HR-V is the second vehicle to be assembled at the plant in Celaya, following the Honda Fit which went into production last year. Honda plans to export the HR-V to the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Honda of Mexico was established in El Salto, Jalisco in 1985 starting with the import, and later manufacturing motorcycles. In 1995, automobile assembly begins in the same place.

In 2015, Honda in Mexico, not only starts production of HR-V, it celebrate its thirtieth anniversary there. The company employs about 5,000 people in Mexico.
